That’s one way to celebrate the Conference League semi-finals.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Shakhtar Donetsk owner Rinat Akhmetov has just bought the most expensive property of all time.
The financial outlet claims he paid €471million for a new property in Monaco, surpassing the previous record of €310million that was paid to property developer Nick Candy in West London.
Bloomberg estimates that Akhmetov, who heads an industrial conglomerate with investments in metallurgy, mining, and energy, has a fortune of around €6billion.
The property is in the recently completed ‘Le Renzo’ building which was built out into the sea alongside the famous tunnel where Formula 1 cars race.
His particular property is said to be a 21-room, 2,500-square-metre apartment featuring several terraces overlooking the Mediterranean, a private pool, jacuzzi, and at least eight parking spaces.
They add that in 2019, he acquired Villa Les Cèdres on the French Riviera, the former residence of King Leopold II of Belgium, for €200m.
The news comes after his war-torn side Shakhtar made the Conference League semi-finals against Crystal Palace, despite having to play home matches in Poland due to Russia’s invasion.
Maybe funnel some of your money into defence and your team could return home…
