Real Madrid could end the season in humiliating fashion with a guard of honour for Barcelona.
Following a 1-1 draw between Madrid and Real Betis on Friday night, Barcelona beat Getafe 2-0 to put one hand on the La Liga trophy.
Next weekend they could clinch it should they beat Osasuna and Madrid fail to win against Espanyol.
If that eventuality comes to pass, it would mean that Madrid would be forced to give Barcelona a guard of honour in their first game as champions on May 10th.
The traditional gesture would be due at the Camp Nou for the Clasico, or alternatively, Barca could also humiliate their rivals with victory in the fixture to clinch the title.
Would Madrid give Barca the guard of honour
Whether Madrid would actually conduct the guard of honour is another question, given recent history.
In January they were beaten by Barca in the final of the Spanish Supercopa.
Xabi Alonso instructed his troops to stand and watch the trophy presentation, but Kylian Mbappe was seen calling the coach and his teammates away.
The gesture was one of many that have called into question if Mbappe has too much power at the club since his Galactico signing from PSG.
