Last season was Robert Lewandowski’s worst scoring campaign since 2014/15, but he’s now back on fire for one obvious reason.
The Pole managed 26 goals last season, his worst total since 2014/15, down from 33 in his debut Barcelona campaign the year before.
This season, with a quarter of the season gone, he’s already on 14 in 12, which isn’t a coincidence.
In total under Hansi Flick, Lewandowski has 97 goals in just 83 games, including their time together at Bayern Munich.
That now puts him just six away from his best total under any coach, which was 103 with Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund.
Even more stunning is the fact that it took him 187 games to reach that total, showing just why Barca president Joan Laporta was so keen to reunite him with Flick.
