There were fortunately no serious injuries despite a disturbing fire in the away end during the Belgrade derby.
Red Star beat Partizan 3-0 to go four points clear of their city rivals at the top of the league, but the match was stopped for a fire in the second half.
Former Serie A and Premier League regular Marko Arnautović had just scored to make it 2-0 to the hosts in the 56th minute when the match had to be suspended.
Players were sent back to the dressing rooms and fire fighters worked quickly to extinguish chairs that had been set alight as Partizan fans dispersed.
A PA announcement said: “If the acts of vandalism and the burning of the seats continue, the south stand will be immediately emptied and the match will be permanently suspended.”
Fortunately, things were able to continue without further disruption as Red Star finished off the job.
