RB Leipzig have named Tatjana Haenni as their new CEO, making her the first female leader of a Bundesliga side.
The 59-year-old Swiss national fills a vacancy that has been empty for three years since Oliver Mintzlaff moved upstairs to managing director of Red Bull.
Discussing the move, he said: “We are extremely pleased to have secured Tatjana Haenni, a strong leader, as CEO for RB Leipzig.
“She impressed us and the governing bodies in our discussions with her expertise and the combination of specialist knowledge, leadership skills, and strategic thinking.
” We expect this to provide new input and fresh impetus, ensuring we are well-prepared for the future and can continue to meet the increasing demands.”
Haenni has previously worked for the Swiss Football Association, UEFA, and FIFA. Since January 2023, she has served as Director of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the USA.
She commented: “The discussions with those in charge were characterised by a trusting and respectful atmosphere, and I am convinced that with strong teamwork and a focus on RB Leipzig’s strengths, we can unlock even more potential.
“Together, we want to continue on the successful path we have embarked upon and achieve our ambitious goals.”
