Marseille’s home Ligue 1 tie with PSG has been called off hours before the match due to heavy rainfall in the area.
Le Classique was scheduled to take place in the south of France at 8.45 local time, but storms have led to its postponement.
Ligue 1 rules state that a game must be played on the following Monday, which in this case would be September 22.
However, that date and time coincides with the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.
Favourite to win Ousmane Dembele is injured so will likely attend anyway, but the rest of the squad may not be able to, including coach Luis Enrique who is also expected to pick up an award.
The LFP have since ratified the Monday date, saying: “Due to the severe weather conditions forecast for the Marseille region, the Olympique de Marseille-Paris Saint-Germain match, counting towards matchday 5 of Ligue and scheduled for this evening, has been postponed by decision of the Prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône.
“The match has been rescheduled for this Monday, September 22 at 8:00 PM.”
