Heading into the Champions League last 16 as reigning champions for the first time, there aren’t any nerves from Luis Enrique’s PSG.
The French side completed a European treble last season and although results have been far from perfect this campaign, their Spanish coach is still happy.
So happy, in fact, that he’s not bothered about being drawn against a Chelsea side who beat them 4-0 in the Club World Cup final.
“I’m very happy, as usual,” he reacted.
“It will be fascinating to play against one of the best teams, a team we know well.
“There is no feeling of revenge, these are different competitions.”
Asked about a tricky run to the final, he added: “This is our path, we’re used to it.
“We are the reigning champions. The problems are for the other teams.”
Luis Enrique’s PSG delight
Luis Enrique went on to stress how good PSG‘s performances have been, with only minor improvements needed when it comes to results if they are to protect their crown.
“It’s different from last year when nobody thought we could win the Champions League. Today, everyone knows we can win this competition.
“To do that, we need to improve our performances, we’re aware of that. But what we’ve seen is positive, and we have to adapt to the different circumstances we’re facing.
“During the season, we showed many times what our team is capable of.
“We played many good matches. Statistically, it’s even better in certain aspects of our game.
“I’m happy with the way we prepare for matches and with our performance. The team is showing its ability to overcome difficult situations and problems.”
