Evreux had some good PR recently with one of their former sons Ousmane Dembele being named the world’s best player, but now they may have thrown it all away.
The Normandy sixth tier side were playing in the sixth round of the Coupe de France when they found themselves 4-0 down at half-time against ASPTT Caen.
On top of that, both of their goalkeepers and coach had been sent off, so they took the decision not to come out for the second 45.
Caen have been awarded a 4-0 default win, and Evreux’s punishment has also been revealed.
The side that produced Ballon d’Or winner Dembele and Dayot Upamecano have been fined just €60.
The Normandy League commission add that the fine could be upgraded, but the decision was made to get it done ‘as quickly as possible due to the sporting urgency and in order to limit the impact on the smooth running of the competition’.
