Jose Mourinho has left Raul Asencio out to dry after he was convicted of drunk driving.
The Real Madrid centre-back was stopped by police in San Bartolomé de Tirajana on August 16 and registered a blood alcohol level of 0.90 mg/l, almost four times the legal limit.
Asencio has been banned from driving for eight months and fined €14,400.
It’s the second legal matter for Asencio to deal with, as he will stand trial in September for the unauthorized recording and distribution of sexually explicit videos.
His coach, Mourinho, cited both incidents in a brutal response to the latest driving order.

“A Real Madrid player is a Real Madrid player 24 hours a day,” he said.
“What you do off the pitch can damage your reputation and that of the club. I’m not happy.
“Everyone makes mistakes, but accumulated mistakes are different…”
Mourinho then left a message of hope for the currently injured defender.

He added: “I spoke with him when I arrived. I did so regarding past issues. Since I arrived, I haven’t spoken to him again.
“I don’t discuss situations outside of Valdebebas anymore. Because inside, he’s a true professional.
“When he was fit, nobody trained harder or better than him. Now that he’s injured, he’s the first to arrive and the last to leave. Extreme dedication.”
UPDATE: Asencio cleared in explicit video case
On Thursday Asencio was acquitted for his role in the video sharing incident.
In a lengthy statement, he wrote: Today, after a long period of silence and respecting a judicial process in which I always had faith, I can say that I have been ACQUITTED. And I believe the time has come to share a few words.
During these past months, I have experienced a difficult situation and, at times, I have had to witness the publication of information and opinions about me before the courts had ruled. I understand and respect the work of the media in reporting and commenting, but I also believe it is important to remember that behind every news story there is a person and a family who live with the consequences of everything that is published.
I have always trusted that justice would eventually set things right. Today, there is a court ruling that speaks for itself, and I accept it with peace of mind and the satisfaction of being able to close a chapter that has been very important to me.
I don’t want to dwell on the noise or the difficult moments. I prefer to focus on the support of the people who stood by me and believed in me throughout this time. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, my friends, my agent, my lawyers, and everyone who stood by me and gave me strength when I needed it most.
I also want to thank Real Madrid and everyone at the club who have shown me their trust and allowed me to continue working, growing, and enjoying what I love most: playing football. Throughout this whole process, I’ve tried to stay out of it, focus on working, and keep moving forward. Today, I can do so with the peace of mind that comes from knowing I always believed in the truth.
To those who have spoken about me during these past months, I only ask that, now that the courts have ruled, this part of the story also be told with the same care. I don’t want to engage in controversy or dwell on the past. I want to close this chapter with respect, with my head held high, and with a strong desire to move forward.
I also want to address an incident involving drunk driving. I am deeply sorry for what happened and I take full responsibility. It was a learning experience, and I am certain it will not happen again. Now I want to look ahead, keep working, keep growing, and focus on what I love most: playing football.
