There was good and bad news from Alvaro Arbeloa after some worrying scenes for Raul Asencio.
The Real Madrid centre back spent minutes lying on his back after a collision in the 2-1 win over Benfica and had to be carefully lifted onto a stretcher.
He was later seen leaving the Bernabeu in an ambulance and although Arbeloa doesn’t think it’s serious, neck issues are never a good sign.
“Asencio has gone to the hospital and hopefully it’s just a scare,” he said post-match.
“It’s something to do with his neck, it doesn’t seem serious but he’s gone to the hospital.”
Arbeloa also gave an update on Kylian Mbappe who missed the Champions League win with knee pain.
The issue first seemed like a precaution, but Arbeloa has now suggested Mbappe will miss more than just a single match.
“I don’t know how long he will need, but I believe it won’t be a matter of days,” he said.
“It will be a little longer, hopefully for as short a time as possible.
“We discussed it with him and with the doctors, and we believe that the best thing for him is to stop, recover and come back at 100%.”
