Jurgen Klopp has been enjoying his first weeks as Germany’s new coach, but things have taken a more serious turn upon arriving in Frankfurt.
The former Liverpool manager has been ever-present in the media and attending game-after-game in the Bundesliga to check out new talent.
Most recently, he was spotted at Eintracht Frankfurt training alongside one of the most important players from his Borussia Dortmund days – Mario Gotze.
However, it turns out he was there to meet someone else.
Klopp tries to convince Ebnoutalib to sign for Germany
Sky Germany report that Klopp had a meeting with new Frankfurt starlet Younes Ebnoutalib.
The 22-year-old isn’t exactly a baby, but he’s only just arriving on the Bundesliga scene with a bang.
In two games across the league and cup, he already has four goals this season.
As such, Klopp seems keen on the German-born talent who’s also eligible for Morocco.
Ebnoutalib was born in Frankfurt to a German mother and Moroccan father and has represented the latter at under-15 level.
As part of his media tour, Klopp has also spoken about his philosophy heading into international coaching after a career in the club game.
Klopp is ready to take risks as Germany coach
“With every new beginning, I first listen and look at things, listened,” the 59-year-old told Sports Illustrated.
“The art then lies in putting all of that into the right context and inspiring people, convincing them of the shared path and fostering enthusiasm.
“Not knowing if it will work is the first thing you learn as a football coach.
“You can draw two conclusions from that. Either you say, ‘Then I won’t even try,’ or you say, ‘Screw it, I’ll just see.’ Since we’re already there, we might as well give it a proper go. I would definitely sign up for that kind of courage.
“But in the end, someone has to decide. And that’s the most exciting moment. Then it’s ‘all systems go,’ now it has to work. Not knowing if a decision will work out, but being as well prepared as possible. That’s the courage needed to move forward.”
