Most of France was left wondering why Marseille’s clash with PSG was postponed with blue skies on the south coast when the announcement was made.
The match prefect made the call amid amber weather warnings for the region.
The postponement meant that the game would instead be played on Monday, clashing with the Ballon d’Or ceremony where PSG are expected to clean up.
Conspiracy theorists may have thought OM were trying to rain on the parade of a global celebration for their fiercest rivals, but any such talk was removed as soon as the sun set in Marseille.
Shocking weather hit the city with images capturing violent thunder storms and flooded streets.
Thankfully, things cleared up overnight, and Le Classique should now go ahead without any further glitches.
