Despite losing arguably the best player in the world for nothing, Luis Enrique thinks PSG are even better than before.
The Spaniard is in his second season in Paris, but it’s his first without Kylian Mbappe who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Yet despite the lack of funds, PSG still managed to spend close to €170million on Joao Neves, Desire Doue, Willian Pacheco and Matvey Safonov.
That’s seen three wins from three in Ligue 1 with 12 goals scored and two conceded, with Neves in particular shining.
Summing up what could have been a difficult summer after the close of the transfer window, Luis Enrique had little to complain about.
“I think we had a very good transfer window,” he said. “We strengthened ourselves, with one player per line. I am more than satisfied.
“We knew it would be a difficult transfer window, it’s the same for all teams. We already have a very good team, because last season, we strengthened ourselves a lot. We are looking to develop this project.
“Since I arrived at PSG, even with the transfer window already started (last summer), I have had an influence.
“It would be ridiculous for a club to recruit players without taking into account the opinion of its coach.
“We have not taken a single player without my having given my opinion. Another thing is to know if I have made them progress.”
