Benfica fans have let their anger out at club president Rui Costa in brutal fashion.
The club legend, who moved up to the club’s most senior post in 2021, has come under plenty of criticism in recent weeks thanks to a far from ideal summer.
Chiefly among the issues upsetting supporters has been the sale of Joao Neves, the club’s latest megastar out of their academy.
The 19-year-old had a €120million release clause in his contract, one that didn’t look too unreasonable given his heroics at such a young age.
However, the defensive midfielder ended up at Paris Saint-Germain for just €60m, with €10m in add-ons.
Expressing their anger at the deal, fans placed a banner outside Estádio da Luz which read: “Sell your mothers,” it also had the hashtag ‘#CostaOut’.
