Renato Sanches is heading back to Portugal, but not with Benfica.
The 2016 Golden Boy Award winner is returning to Portugal with the newly-monied Estrela da Amadora.
The Lisbon side were purchased for €40million by a consortium headed by Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels and Yan Sommer.
And now Sanches will be their first major arrival.
Previously contracted to PSG, he has terminated his contract and returned home, with Amadora now in pole position according to multiple reports.
Their coach had earlier talked down the chances of a deal in a press conference.
Amadora’s coach calls Sanches one of the best he’s seen
Pepa said: “First, and I’m only saying this because I know Renato, otherwise I’d settle the matter right now. There’s nothing to it.
“And in principle, there won’t be anything either, so this is just news.
“Now, separating things, I really like Renato, I’ve known him since his time in Benfica’s youth academy.
“As a person, as a player, he’s one of the best I’ve ever seen.”
