Luis Enrique has made plenty of headlines for his attacks on journalists, but this time he may have overstepped the mark.
The PSG coach, who was speaking after his side’s 2-0 Champions League defeat to Arsenal, went after Canal+ journalist Margot Dumont who asked about his unsuccessful tactics on the night.
“No, I have no intention of explaining my tactics because you wouldn’t understand,” he said.
“A lot of things will have to be corrected, but I have no intention of explaining that.”
The comments, which were made live on French television, soon went viral, with numerous journalists coming to the support of their colleague.
RMC Sport’s Pierre Dorian said: “Luis Enrique is completely dumbfounding. An unacceptable interview with Margot Dumont.”
Le Monde’s Abel Mestre added: “Journalists should boycott PSG and Luis Enrique press conferences, no longer interview him in the mixed zone, in response to this contemptuous attitude towards Margot Dumont.”
Luis Enrique has regularly gone viral for his comments to journalists, recently saying that he would take a 50% pay cut to never do another press conference.
