Kylian Mbappe’s trophy snub after Real Madrid’s Supercopa defeat to Barcelona has been taken off social media and into the headlines.
Clips went viral of the France captain waving his teammates back to the dressing room ahead of Barca lifting their title earned by a 3-2 win.
Now Barca president Joan Laporta has commented on the matter, making sure it’s a stain on Mbappe’s reputation.
“I’m surprised by what Mbappé did,” he began.
“In victory and defeat, one must be humble and respectful. This is sport, and normal behaviour is necessary.
“I think we were generous and respectful to our opponent, so I can’t understand him.
“Since the last league game, the players have been fired up. The truth is, I hadn’t seen that moment with Mbappé on the pitch yet, but those are tough moments…
“He must have been really pissed off, and that was his reaction.”
