L’Equipe have released their annual research on football salaries and there will be plenty of shock in Spain.
The leading French outlet has detailed which players and coaches get paid the most in France, but it’s across the southern border where things are far more interesting.
According to their research, Real Madrid duo Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr are tied as the highest paid LaLiga players on €2,670,000 per-month.
They add that Vinicius’ salary will increase next season as part of a contract clause, taking him ahead of Mbappe on base salary, but the Frenchman still earns more on bonuses.
There’s also the added fact that he appears set to sign a new deal which may take him definitively ahead of Mbappe.
More shocking than all of that, though, is the man in third.
L’Equipe claim that David Alaba rounds off the podium on €1,880,000 per-month.
The Austrian signed from Bayern Munich in 2021, explaining such a high salary.
But sadly for him he’s become a bench option in the past three seasons with injury issues threatening the end of his career.
Alaba spent over a year out injured from 2023 to 2025, collecting one of the highest paycheques in football.
Behind him in fourth is Robert Lewandowski on €1,730,000 per-month, while Jude Bellingham and Jan Oblak are tied for fifth on €1,670,000.
Incredibly, Oblak’s Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is still miles ahead for managers.
They put him on €2,170,000, with Barcelona’s Hansi Flick earning less than half at €910,000 and rookie coach Alvaro Arbeloa on €580,000.
