With talks starting over a new contract at Fenerbahce, Jose Mourinho is set for a shocking record.
The 2010 European treble winner signed with the Super Lig giants until 2026, and reports from Türkiye claim that club president Ali Koc wants to meet to extend their agreement.
There were some doubts that Mourinho would even stay after his debut season, given he’s been in a constant fight with the media and impending champions Galatasaray.
However, should he stay, he’ll break a surprise 52-year tradition at the club.
According to NTVspor, since Didi in 1973, every permanent manager who’s failed to win the league at Fenerbahce has been sacked straight after.
Mourinho looks certain to now achieve that feat, with Gala nine points clear at the top, despite playing a game more.
It looks like the only thing that will stop Mourinho now is if he decides to leave of his own accord.
