Ferran Torres has chosen PSG as his next club.
The scorer of the 2026 World Cup winning goal has been a huge subject of transfer speculation which he’s now appeared to end.
MARCA and Sky Germany report that Torres told both Barcelona and PSG that he wants to join the latter, and the clubs are now negotiating.
Sporting directors Deco and Luis Campos have been discussing the player, and MARCA add that a deal will be done ‘barring a major upset’.
Barcelona’s Spanish World Cup winners are due back at training on Wednesday, when Torres was supposed to discuss his future.
However, that meeting likely won’t take place with negotiations at an advanced stage.
Why Torres wants to leave Barcelona
Torres is entering the final year of his Barcelona deal, and it’s been reported that his current side can’t offer a new deal until September.
LaLiga financial fair play rules mean their final squad must be submitted before they can start making changes.
Torres himself had made it clear his future was likely elsewhere during his media rounds after his final winning goal against Argentina.
“I have a contract with FC Barcelona, but in football you never know,” he said on NBC.
“I’m just waiting to make the right decision. I don’t know, I don’t know yet. Is there a dream club? Yes. I just want to be happy.
“What does Barça have to do? Show that they really want me, that they’ve come to negotiate.
“Interest from PSG? That these teams want me is a good thing.”
The issue has become so big that coach Hansi Flick has had to respond.
“We have to wait,” he said.
“I have complete confidence in Deco, and we know we have to do something.
“It also depends on Ferran. We’ll see what we do.”
