El Chiringuito reporter Iñaki Villalón was the victim of an attack by an alleged Atletico Madrid fan following the team’s Copa del Rey win over Getafe.
The reporter from the often controversial network was interviewing supporters outside of the Metropolitano when a passerby shoved his microphone.
Villalón then turned to confront the fan as they swore at each other and he was kicked by one member of the group.
Posting the clip on social media, Villalón wrote: “I’ve had to think a lot about whether to publish this, but I think it’s my duty as a journalist to report it and it’s something that unfortunately happens frequently.
“I’m not proud of my terms, but I consider them a defence mechanism. I moved away even though he hit me. My cameraman, out of pure fear, was not able to capture the entire sequence properly.
The supporter could be heard calling Villalón a ‘son of a b****’ and ‘r****d’ before he retaliated.
With swearing redacted, he was heard saying: “What the hell are you doing, can’t you see that I’m working? What the hell are you saying? I swear to God!”
Atleti are yet to comment on the incident.
