After another improved performance, talk of Xavi staying at Barcelona is again becoming a hot topic.
Barca trounced Atletico Madrid 3-0 away in the capital, just a match after they convincingly booked their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The two performances have been arguably Barca’s best of the season, coming fewer than two months on from Xavi announcing his departure on January 27.
The club legend said he would step down after a humiliating 5-3 defeat to Villarreal, insisting that it would free his players, and that he doesn’t want the job to become a chore.
It’s now clear that the decision certainly helped his squad, with Xavi having his ‘I told you so’ moment with the media this week.
However, despite insisting that “As of today, nothing has changed” sporting director Deco wasn’t so convinced about the manager’s plans to walk away on June 30.
“We have said from the beginning that he renewed for two seasons,” he told DAZN.
“There is no discussion. He has already explained the situation. If something changes we will talk, but now is not the time. ”
