Emmanuel Emegha is BlueCo through and through.
The Strasbourg captain will be switching between their two sides to Chelsea in the summer, but probably shouldn’t have announced it so soon.
Emegha was a point of contention during the season when his Chelsea deal was announced, while the club later suspended him for some disrespectful comments.
Emegha has since got his head down and helped Strasbourg into the Conference League semi-finals, but all isn’t forgiven.
Missing a Ligue 1 tie against Rennes, he spoke to supporters post-match, and things quickly got heated.
“Why are you showing off with another club?” a supporter asked him outside the stadium.
“Because it’s my future club,” Emegha replied calmly.
“As captain, that’s not the right communication,” the supporters retorted.
Emegha defended by Rosenior
Emegha was defended by Liam Rosenior for switching to Chelsea, perhaps forshaddowing his own move.
“Emanuel Emegha deserves to play for a big club,” he said after supporters demanded the captain’s armband.
“If it hadn’t been Chelsea, it would have been another big club. He’s a very good young striker.
“I’m devastated. I feel like we’re starting from scratch. Last season, this team gave everything for its fans.
“We’re disappointed with their reaction. It’s not all the fans. It’s a minority. They don’t respect my players as they should. “
