Strasbourg’s Liam Rosenior has taken the bold choice to attack the club’s ultras over their ownership protests.
Fans of the Ligue 1 side have become increasingly critical of their takeover by Chelsea’s BlueCo group, staging multiple protests, and now a joint statement from all four ultra groups asking for the sporting director’s resignation.
All of this comes after a record summer spend and great start to the season, but Strasbourg fans see Chelsea’s involvement as a loss of their indentity.
A deal for the Premier League side to sign striker Emanuel Emegha from them has been viewed as a final straw, and the Stade de la Meinau even booed him when he received his player of the month award before a 1-0 win over Le Harve.
Speaking after that victory, Rosenior then risked similar treatment next time out by saying: “Emanuel Emegha deserves to play for a big club.
“If it hadn’t been Chelsea, it would have been another big club. He’s a very good young striker.
“I’m devastated. I feel like we’re starting from scratch. Last season, this team gave everything for its fans.
“We’re disappointed with their reaction. It’s not all the fans. It’s a minority. They don’t respect my players as they should. “
