Cesc Fabregas has had to deny he’s giving out jobs for the boys after signing another former Spain teammate.
The Como coach has previously signed familiar faces Pepe Reina, Sergi Roberto and Alberto Moreno, and now he’s brought in Alvaro Morata.
The striker isn’t too popular in Italy after a failed stint nearby in Milan, and Fabregas has had to bat off the idea he’s just signed his mate from his playing days at Chelsea and Spain.
“He’s not my friend,” Fabregas said.
“When he left Chelsea I didn’t hear anything from him again, just congratulatory messages. Although he was my friend, he’s not today.
“We have a great relationship, we shared two years at Chelsea and with the national team, he’s an incredible guy with a big heart.
“Great humility and a sense of work; he’ll bring a lot to the lads. I’m not worried about our relationship; he wants to do well, and what he’s done deserves a lot of credit.
“He left more than 60% of his salary there, and that says a lot. It tells me a lot about his mentality, about what he’ll do.
“He hasn’t promised me how many goals he’ll score, but he has promised a lot of work and positivity.”
