Real Madrid have drawn up a list of potential replacements should they need to call time on Carlo Ancelotti during the current season.
The Italian is coming under increasing pressure thanks to damaging back-to-back losses against Barcelona and AC Milan compounding a dysfunctional start to the season.
The 4-0 Clasico loss saw Ancelotti completely out-coached by Hansi Flick which has led to more and more voices at the club turning on the legendary coach.
Even with a good season, it looks inevitable that Ancelotti will be replaced by Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso next summer, but in the short term, there could be a different Madrid and Liverpool man coming in.
Mundo Deportivo report Ancelotti has been ‘given a warning’ by the club, which has already drawn up a list of potential replacements.
Leading the way as an interim option is Santiago Solari, who has taken the post previously from 2018 and 2019 and was credited with turning Vinicius Jr into one of the world’s best players.
However, there could be even better options from within. Reserve team coach Raul has long been linked with a step up, but it’s claimed that Juvenil A’s Alvaro Arbeloa has impressed more and could leapfrog the legendary striker up to the first team.
Zinedine Zidane and Jurgen Klopp continue to be discussed as long-term solutions, but the club has undoubtedly already made its choice clear that Alonso will lead the team next season.
