Carlo Ancelotti has invited a familiar face back into his Brazil coaching staff, son Davide Ancelotti.
Davide was one of Carlo’s assistants from 2016 through to 2025, leaving his father’s side upon their departure from Real Madrid.
Linked to British sides Leicester and Rangers, Davide instead took the bold step to work under John Textor at Botafogo.
However, his first solo job only lasted five months, exiting both cups and standing only sixth in the league.
Botafogo announced in December: “Davide Ancelotti is no longer the coach of Botafogo.
“Botafogo informs that Davide Ancelotti is no longer the coach of the main team. The physical trainer Luca Guerra and the assistants Luis Tevenet and Andrew Mangan are also leaving. The decision was made after meetings this Wednesday (17).
“The Club thanks Ancelotti for his professionalism and commitment during the period in which he led the team and was part of the alvinegra family. Botafogo wishes him success in future challenges.
“The new technical commission will be announced shortly.”
Davide worked with his father first at Bayern Munich and stayed by his side at Napoli, Everton and Real Madrid where he earned credit for a number of tactical switches.
AFP now report that he will be back alongside his father in time for March friendlies against France and Croatia.
