Chairman of the German DFL and Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has ruled out any Bundesliga games abroad.
Watzke was responding to news that a game between LaLiga Barcelona and Villarreal is scheduled to be played in the US, and that Serie A want to follow suit having already moved their Super Cup off the continent.
That won’t be happening in Germany, with Watzke saying: “As long as I am in charge of the league, there will be no competitive matches abroad. Period. That is not open to interpretation.
“My position is also relatively clear within UEFA. Whether that will be the majority opinion, I cannot say.”
