Germany goalkeeper Alexander Nubel has been told not to return to Bayern Munich training.
The World Cup squad member has a valid contract with Bayern until 2029, but sporting director Max Eberl has instructed him to find a new club.
Nubel has spent the past three seasons on loan at Stuttgart, impressing with two DFB Pokal finals, including a win, and Champions League football.
Nubel was signed from Schalke in 2020 but has only played a handful of matches for Bayern where he was always seen as a future option.
However, the record Bundesliga champions are now betting the house on Jonas Urbig, who will develop alongside Manuel Neuer next season.
Nubel told to leave Bayern
Bayern training resumes on July 20th, but Sky Germany report that Nubel has been told not to attend.
Eberl is trying to force the keeper out of the club by then, with only Besiktas showing concrete interest.
Nubel is on a huge salary of €12million a year, most of which Bayern covered during his time at Stuttgart.
The Swabians couldn’t afford to sign him for such a salary, and it seems Besiktas can’t either.
On top of that, Bayern are holding out for a €20m transfer fee.
AC Milan and Manchester City have also been linked as destinations, but with Nubel likely a back-up at both, such a salary and fee seems extreme.
Nubel’s agent told Sky: “We will make the right decision regarding Alexander’s future.
“What we can confirm is that Besiktas is determined to sign him.”
