While some in the Bundesliga are already missing Florian Wirtz, coaching legend Felix Magath is proud of the German talent for picking Liverpool and the Premier League.
Wirtz was courted by Bayern Munich for much of the past two years, only to snub them in a British record £116million move to Anfield.
Some were sad to see him leave Bayer Leverkusen and Germany, but not Magath, who feels he made the right call.
“Florian Wirtz deserves congratulations for not going to Munich,” the former Bayern manager said.
“Wirtz’s decision for Liverpool shows me his determination to develop to the maximum in his sporting career. He has chosen the appropriate challenge in the Premier League for this.
“Wirtz will make it there, too. It would have been too easy for him at Bayern.
“It’s pointless to complain that the very best players don’t make it to the Bundesliga or stay here – the national team will benefit from Wirtz’s move.”
