Louis Theroux meets Tiki-Taka.
Known as one of the more classy players during his legendary career, Carles Puyol has taken the unusual step to join the Manosphere.
The Barcelona icon, who won 18 major honours with his club and two with the Spanish national team, is speaking at ‘Fearless Masculinity’ in Mexico.
The event fronted by the infamous Jordan Peterson includes a number of controversial money-grabbing far right figures such as Christopher West and Eduardo Verástegui.
The event takes place in Jalisco, statistically one of the worst states in north and central America when it comes to violence against women.
Puyol’s attendance comes amid complaints
Over 140 feminist organisations have condemned the event, with tickets costing $430 each.
In the first two months of 2026, 756 women were violently killed in Mexico.
2,812 women were raped and there were over 162,000 calls related to gender and domestic violence made to emergency services, according to government data.
To make matters worse, the local government pledged 400,000 pesos in funding, with President Claudia Sheinbaum saying the state governor needs to ‘explain himself’.
Luz Leon, a representative for rights group Balance, told Reuters that Balance and 35 other associations had filed a formal complaint.
“It is often said there is no money to assist victims in Guadalajara and Jalisco, a state with very high rates of violence and youth disappearances,” she said.
“It is deeply concerning that instead of directing resources to address these issues, they are being used for this.
“They are promoting gender violence and narratives that perpetuate discrimination based on prejudice and stereotypes.”
Brazilian great Kaka, who regularly takes FIFA cash to back Gianni Infantino, was also pencilled in to take place, but seemingly didn’t show up amid public backlash.
Puyol, meanwhile, hasn’t advertised his participation at all on social media despite being a vocal user.
The timing likely causes embarrassment for his former side Barcelona, with captain Ronald Araujo taking a mental health break this season which was roundly applauded by his teammates, the manager and president.
He should toughen up, right Carles?
