Serie A side Atalanta have released a statement on Ivan Juric’s condition after being hospitalised.
The former Southampton and Torino coach has missed the start of pre-season with the club revealing he was taken to hospital days ago while suffering with swelling and inflammation of his upper respiratory tract.
The 49-year-old suffered a bacterial infection and has been treated with antibiotics through an IV drip.
The good news is the treatment has worked, and the club expect him to be discharged in the coming days.
Their statement read: “Atalanta BC announce that head coach Ivan Juric was recently admitted to Bolognini Hospital in Seriate, specifically to the Otorhinolaryngology department under the direction of Dr Davide Panciera, due to inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, complicated by a bacterial epiglottitis infection.
“He was treated with intravenous antibiotic therapy. His current clinical status is showing significant improvement, and he is expected to be discharged within the next few days.”
Juric is heading into his first season at Atalanta, replacing long-time coach Gian Piero Gasperini who departed for rivals AS Roma.
