Lazio have been forced to release an official statement after news of Maurizio Sarri being hospitalised hit the headlines.
The Serie A club have now confirmed it was a scheduled in depth heart check up that Sarri needs almost six years after he suffered pneumonia during a bout of COVID-19.
Lazio added in a statement: “Coach Sarri is returning to Formello and, as scheduled, will lead training at 6:00 PM.
“He underwent a thorough fitness check this morning, more comprehensive than the tests the players underwent at the Training Centre.”
The news comes shortly after rival coach Ivan Juric was released from hospital.
The Atalanta coach was in a more serious situation and needed antibiotics administered via an IV after experiencing breathing issues.
The former Southampton boss has since been released from hospital with the club offering an update.
