It’s already been a turbulent January transfer window for Lazio, but at least Maurizio Sarri is on an even keel.
The Serie A side have lost key midfielder Matteo Guendouzi to Fenerbahce in a sizable €30million deal, allowing them to reinvest up front.
Filling that spot has been Petar Ratkov who arrived from Salzburg with a decent reputation in a €13m deal.
However, it’s a reputation Sarri wasn’t aware of.
“I don’t know this player and I don’t follow Austrian football,” he said in a brutally honest reply following a 2-2 draw with Fiorentina.
“We will see his qualities and his flaws, but he will certainly be strong, since the club signed him.”
With nine goals and two assists in 17 games and at the age of 22, Sarri should be well aware soon.
