AC Milan captain Mike Maignan has backed up new club teammate Adrien Rabiot over his criticism of the club’s international match.
Rabiot has only just joined Milan from Marseille, but used his profile to call his team’s match against Como in Australia in February ‘completely crazy’ and ‘really absurd’.
Serie A CEO Luigi de Siervo got a bit sensitive about the remarks, telling Rabiot to ‘have respect for the money he earns’.
However, he’s been met with an even louder voice in fellow France and Milan star Maignan.
“Today, we forget a lot of things and we think a lot about the financial aspect,” the goalkeeper said.
“It’s an Italian league match, I don’t understand why we’re playing it abroad.
“On top of that, it’s a match we were supposed to play at home. So we lose a match at home.
“Our objectives are high and we mustn’t leave anything to chance.”
