Lyon have announced a loan deal for Real Madrid’s Endrick, and fans won’t only be delighted with his talent, but the fact he wanted them so much.
Previously linked with Chelsea, Bayern Munich and various other elite European sides, L’Equipe journalist Hugo Guillemet claims the teen only wanted OL.
One of those reasons was that: “He identified OL as the only European club where the number 9 position was vacant.”
That’s key for the Brazilian, who is looking to land a 2026 World Cup spot having played just 33 minutes for Madrid under Xabi Alonso during the first half of the season.
The journalist also added: “He watched several Lyon matches and was completely convinced by their style of play.”
“As early as October, Matthieu Louis-Jean, the Lyon sporting director, made contact with the player, established relationships with his agents and the Brazilian company Roc Nation.”
Endrick could play as many as 20 matches for OL to finish the season across Ligue 1, the Europa League and Coupe de France.
The club also revealed the fee for the deal, saying: “Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to announce that an agreement has been reached with Real Madrid for the arrival of Brazilian international forward Endrick, on a paid loan worth up to €1 million, until the end of the season.”
