Bayern Munich CEO guts players after Werder Bremen collapse

Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen didn’t hold back after another disappointing result for his team.

Bayern fell 1-0 at home to Werder Bremen, leaving them seven points from Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

It was another limp performance from the Bavarians in a season full of them, and their trophy hopes continue to fade after defeat in the DFL Supercup and DFB Pokal.

Speaking after the match, Dreesen went in on the players.

“It can’t be due to the quality of the team,” he said. “Especially not when we were still dreaming and talking about the Champions League final a few weeks ago.

“The attitude changes like the weather, obviously.”

Asked if it was a shock, he responded: “What does shocked mean? We just played boring football for the first 70 minutes.

“We played a bad game. We didn’t show the attitude that you have to show – regardless of the opponent.

“You just have to work, bite and make an effort – even if you supposedly have the game in the bag beforehand.

“We no longer have it in our own hands, on the other hand, the season is still long. Leverkusen will certainly have one or two games with a weakness.”
