A bombshell has hit in Bavaria with the news that Bayern Munich are ready to go all-in on Xabi Alonso.

Relevo in Madrid have reported the exclusive, with the German giants ready to give up on Thomas Tuchel.

Alonso has caught the attention of Europe’s elite with his Bundesliga-leading performances as Bayer Leverkusen, and Bayern are now ready to make him their own.

Real Madrid were believed to be considering the former midfielder previously, but the renewal of Carlo Ancelotti’s contract has ended their interest.

Earlier reports claimed that Alonso had an exit clause in his Leverkusen contract for three of his previous clubs, Bayern, Madrid and Liverpool.

With Ancelotti and Jurgen Klopp not going anywhere, Bayern will instead make their move as Tuchel continues to struggle at the Allianz Arena, and could well end up losing the Bundesliga to Alonso.

The 42-year-old spent the final three years of his playing career in Munich, and is now the darling of German football thanks to his record start with Leverkusen.

Tuchel took over at Bayern in March 2024 under the previous regime of Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic.

The decision to sack Julian Nagelsmann proved to be disastrous, with Tuchel leading the team out of the DFB Pokal and Champions League, before nearly losing the Bundesliga to Dortmund.

Things haven’t improved much this season, and although Tuchel could still turn things around and save his job, Relevo say Alonso is now the preferred option.
