UEFA will demand that PSG cover the costs for damages to the Allianz Arena during the Champions League final.
PSG won their first European Cup in style at Bayern Munich’s stadium, beating Inter Milan 5-0 and triggering a pitch invasion.
In the aftermath fans cut up the net and pulled out chunks of grass as souvenirs.
They did so just five days before the Allianz will be used again to host Germany’s match against Portugal in the Nations League final four.
Allianz Arena general manager Jürgen Muth had anticipated such problems and 35 to 40 square metres of synthetic turf have quickly been replaced.
However, UEFA have had to pay for the costs, and want to hand that down to PSG in the form of sanctions, BILD report.
UEFA are planning to hand out fines for the pitch invasion, the destruction of the goal net and the repeated use of pyrotechnic devices by PSG ultras during the final.
Muth isn’t concerned, though, commenting: “For us, it’s routine and there was never any real doubt about the outcome of this match.
“35 to 40 square meters of hybrid turf were recovered to fill in the areas damaged by PSG fans. Despite only four days between the two matches, we are on schedule.”
Goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen was more concerned though, adding: “It’s in the goal area that there are some patches of pitch missing and, whatever happens, it won’t be in satisfactory condition.
“It’s not good news. The risk of injury should not be underestimated.”
