Vinicius Jr has attempted to put his almighty Clasico strop behind him, but may have invertedly (or not) caused another storm.
The Brazilian was substituted in the 72nd minute of a 2-1 Real Madrid win over Barcelona that ended a four-game losing streak in the fixture.
As soon as he saw his No.7 raised Vini flew off the handle, reportedly telling head coach Xabi Alonso ‘I’m leaving the team’ before storming down the tunnel.
He was roundly panned for the theatrics, and has since apologised, but incredibly left Alonso’s name out of his social media mea cupla.
“Today I want to apologise to all Madrid fans for my reaction to being substituted in El Clásico,” he wrote.
“Just as I already apologised in person during training today, I also want to apologise again to my teammates, the club, and the president.
“Sometimes my passion gets the better of me; I always want to win and help my team.
“My competitive nature stems from the love I feel for this club and everything it represents.
“I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since day one.”
