Valencia are planning a tribute to Real Madrid and their president Florentino Perez to thank them for their support during Storm Dana.
The two rivals face off in LaLiga on January 3rd and despite a heated recent history, their dislike will be put to one side pre-match.
Marca report that Valencia are putting together a message of thanks at Mestalla for the visitors’ help during the devastating storm.
Over 200 people died during flooding in the Spanish city and Valencia’s clash with Madrid was also postponed to the new January date.
In response Los Blancos donated €1million to the city as an offer of support and offered information messages and condolences online.
They also wore shirts in support of the city, and even held up a giant Valencian flag at the Bernabeu.
All of this had led to Valencia wanting to say thanks pre-match, despite recent troubles.
Madrid star Vinicius Jr was allegedly subjected to racist abuse from Valencia fans in May 2023 which led to three supporters being imprisoned.
Valencia are also somewhat of a bogey team for the Madrid giants, even in their current malaise – Madrid have only won two of their last five meetings.
