One of Germany’s most popular podcast hosts is attacking one of its most popular newspaper.
Retired Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos hosts a show with his ex-footballer brother Felix, and this week one news story caused them to jump to the defence of Bayern Munich.
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany said the players would be getting a three week break after the Club World Cup to ‘recharge their batteries’.
BILD took the story and called it an ‘XXL Break’, which the Krooses couldn’t believe.
“Are you kidding me?” Felix said. “This is crazy. They’ve played 70 games this season, and they’re getting an XXL vacation, three weeks. The players must feel like they’ve been ripped off.”
Toni added: “This is far too little vacation.
“I’m going to get a slap in the face again because everyone will say that others work much harder and only get the same amount of vacation time.
“However, everyone comes out of the woodwork again when the performance is not delivered or we see poor quality games. After all, the fans want to see good games, fit players, no injuries.
“It’s crucial how much a body and mind are capable of after such a long season and how much vacation they need to be able to do it again next year, plus the World Cup. Of course, three weeks is far too little.
“You can’t give any more because it all starts again straight away.”
