Lisbon duo Benfica and Sporting remarkably both failed to win in their Primeira Liga openers.
Meanwhile, reigning champions Porto won for an early two-point advantage over their title rivals.
Sporting kicked things off on Saturday away at Estrela and got off to a perfect start with an opener from landmark summer signing Rodrigo Zalazar.
Fotis Ioannidis made it 2-0, but Estrela came back in the second half for a point that already piles the pressure on coach Rui Borges.
Sporting have now dropped 24 points from winning positions since he replaced Ruben Amorim.
The away end booed Borges and his players post-match, and the coach made a bold early call by blaming his squad.

“We ended up being penalised by two mistakes,” he said.
“We had 72 very good minutes, a first half that we dominated and controlled with quality.
“The pitch was very bad. But we managed to control the game, above all, creating some chances.
“We started the second half very well and up until the 70th minute… More than robustness, we wanted to bring freshness, and that’s when we fell apart collectively. And that can’t happen.
“It has to serve as a warning to everyone, we have to give much more. Know how to suffer at certain moments, even though we are Sporting.
“A difficult pitch that doesn’t help, but we had to be much more competitive in the last 20 minutes.”
Porto win unconvincingly
Sunday started with Francesco Farioli’s champions then getting an early two point lead over last season’s runners-up.
Porto 2-0 won at home against Alverca, with returning academy player Andre Silva scoring the opener from the spot.
Speaking post-match, the man who left Porto back in 2017 said: “On an individual level, not bad at all.
“It’s like living a dream for the first time, scoring a goal in front of my fans.
“On a collective level, I think it’s possible to do better, but it’s always important to start well with three points.”
Despite Farioli agreeing that Porto didn’t play well, their three points then looked even better when Benfica ended the weekend with a 2-2 draw against Viseu.

Speaking after his first Primeira Liga match with Benfica, Marco Silva said: “The result is frustrating for us and for the fans, we have to take responsibility.
“We scored two goals, we were very inefficient, but we can’t suffer like we did.
“The game was controlled, the individual duels have to be an advantage for us and we lost some that we shouldn’t have. We have to ‘kill’ [some plays] in the corridor… We have to see where we can improve.
“A very bad result for us, we have to take the blame, but we can’t concede a goal from a corner and another from a back pass, we have to have the ability to stop that. And that’s what we have to work on, analyse.
“Then the effectiveness… We had more than enough opportunities to score more, but I’m much more concerned about how we conceded. Because even without scoring more, two goals would have been enough to win.”
