Roberto De Zerbi was already on the brink before facing Paris FC, and now he could be at an end with Marseille giving up a 2-0 lead.
De Zerbi missed training ahead of the Ligue 1 clash amid reports sporting director Medhi Benatia conducted crisis talks over OM‘s Champions League exit.
Following up that humbling by drawing 2-2 with Paris has made things even worse for Marseille, and a Ligue 1 title fight is now a distant dream.
De Zerbi already made a jibe at his seniors pre-match, saying it’s impossible to succeed with ‘six or seven changes’ every transfer window, but now they’ve got more to be angry about.
And next up is Rennes in the Coupe de France last 16, where defeat could be critical.
De Zerbi isn’t giving up though, sending a defiant message beforehand.
“Don’t worry about me. I’m always ready to go to war. Whether it’s tomorrow or today,” he said.
“I started from the bottom, I learned the ropes, I’m used to this, I know how to handle it.
“It frustrates me because I know we can do better. I’m frustrated because I’m the coach, but we could be playing the Rennes match in 10 minutes, I’ll be ready.”
