While Barcelona‘s 3-2 Copa del Rey win over Real Madrid may have been one of the best Clasicos to watch in recent years, it wasn’t exactly pleasant.
The five-goal thriller was stunning off the pitch but spiteful off of it with attacks on the refereeing team by Real Madrid TV.
Crying conspiracy, Madrid’s players joined in, particularly post match when Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vazquez were sent off.
In fact Bellingham even snubbed handshakes from the opposition during the walk for their runners-up medals, but there was a moment of class elsewhere.
Injured captains Marc Andre ter Stegen and Dani Carvajal embraced during the post-match ceremony, a rare moment where the teams put rivalries aside.
Both have suffered brutal knee injuries this season and Carvajal was clearly impressed to see Ter Stegen check on his recovery.
While the conversation wasn’t picked up, Carvajal was seen grinning and heard telling his rival “I’m really happy.”
