Having had their concerns disregarded by the French league, RC Lens are letting their fury over their PSG postponement be known.
The LFP have moved a likely Ligue 1 title decider between Lens and PSG from in between Paris’ Champions League quarter final ties against Liverpool.
The league made the same move in the previous round by postponing a game against Nantes so they could focus on Chelsea.
However, this Lens match has far more at stake, and there’s understandably outrage across French football at the Qatari side getting things their own way.
Making his thoughts known was Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangaré who quickly went viral on Snapchat.
“Should we boycott or not?” he wrote to his followers.
He’s been joined in his outrage by Xavier Bertrand, the president of the Hauts-de-France region, who commented: “Our league deserved better. The fans deserved better. Football deserved better.
“RC Lens holds 2nd place in Ligue 1, just one point behind the Parisian leaders.
“This clash is now the most important match of the season in the league for both clubs.
“And yet, the LFP decided not to heed RC Lens’s position, even though the club had put forward serious sporting arguments: two weeks without a match, followed by three games to chain together in eight days.
“RC Lens was right to stand firm. It was defending not just its own interests, but a fundamental principle: sporting equity.”
Sporting equity in PSG land? Good luck…
