Most of France was thrilled after a 3-2 draw against two of the country’s biggest teams, but Lyon’s Paulo Fonseca may have been the biggest of exceptions.
OL fell 3-2 to Marseille on Sunday night thanks to a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang double, and Lyon’s ascent towards the Champions League was halted.
Fonseca has had his side in fine form since he returned from a nine-month ban for almost headbutting a referee, but he was as angry as every after this one.
Speaking during his post-match press conference, he said: “I’m here because I have a lot of respect for your work, but I don’t want to be here,” he said, visibly seething.
“I don’t want to talk about what happened here. The best team lost today. We scored three goals tonight.”
Pressed on what his issue was, he said: “No, I won’t elaborate.
“I was suspended for nine months. I know I can’t talk. You have to respect my position.
“Look. I’ve seen the situation many times; it’s impossible to convince me there was an offside. But that’s the way it is.”
Fonseca was then asked for his thoughts on the winning goal and finished: “You have to do that analysis. Because I can’t.
“I get the impression you were watching a different match. That’s why I don’t want to waste time commenting.”
