Copa Libertadores finalists Palmeiras have expressed their condolences after the death of a 38-year-old fan in Peru.
Palmerias face fellow Brazilian side Flamengo in Lima’s Estadio Monumental, but put out a statement on the late Caue Brunelli Dezotti who was due to attend the match.
Local reports claim he was on a panoramic sightseeing bus tour when he was struck by an overhead bridge.
Medics attended the scene and he was taken to hospital, but ultimately did not survive the head truma.
Palmeiras said: “Sports Club Palmeiras deeply regrets the passing of fan Caue Brunelli Dezotti, 38 years old, who was in Lima, Peru, to attend the CONMEBOL Libertadores final scheduled for this Saturday (29).
“According to local authorities, the Palmeiras supporter was the victim of an accident while sightseeing on a tourist bus.
“We express our solidarity to Caue’s family and friends in this moment of pain and sadness.”
