Even with Champions League quarter-final qualification, it’s not looking good for Niko Kovac.
The experienced Bundesliga coach is Borussia Dortmund’s second manager of the season, and one with pedigree, unlike predecessors Edin Terzic and Nuri Sahin.
However, despite his titles with Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt, he currently has BVB in tenth in the league.
Now seven points off the top four, BILD report that such a finish would trigger a released clause in his contract.
Kovac signed until 2026, but Dortmund are now very likely to have the option to get out of that deal.
One journalist and a fan, Heiko Wasser, is certain that he won’t stick around, telling Sport1: “Kovac will no longer be coach in Dortmund next year.”
