Back in action in the Brasileirão, Neymar stole the all the headlines with a fine performance against Vasco da Gama.
Brazil’s all-time top scorer last played in the league on December 7th when he helped Santos avoid relegation while playing through injury.
He’s since taken time out on a knee issue, and signed a new deal to keep him at the club to the end of the new season in December.
Returning on February 15th in the Paulista, he’s now played his first Brasileirão match in memorable fashion.
The 34-year-old scored two delightful goals in a 2-1 win and replicated Vinicius Jr’s Real Madrid corner flag dance in a show of solidarity with his Brazil teammate.
It was all rather heart-warming, apart from one moment, a clash between himself and Thiago Mendes.
The two have history with Mendes taking Neymar out of action with a tackle during a PSG v Lyon match in 2020.
The pair had a heated exchange on pitch and post-match Neymar made sure to make his feelings clear.
“He’s always creating controversy, always trying to be macho, it’s always like that,” a disgruntled Neymar responded.
“With all due respect, but he’s an idiot. He injured me once at PSG and he promised me he’d do it again today.”
Please don’t, Carlo Ancelotti might be watching…
